We are seeking a dedicated Actuary to join our Actuarial Services team, focusing on Pricing. This role involves the development and maintenance of product pricing, financial projections, and rate adequacy to support competitive and sustainable growth. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our products are financially sound, market competitive, and aligned with organizational strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain product pricing models to ensure rate adequacy and alignment with market competitiveness.
• Forecast healthcare costs and utilization trends to inform product development and financial planning.
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Finance, and Product teams to support pricing strategies and assumptions.
• Prepare and review regulatory rate filings, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and standards.
• Provide actuarial support for product design, network changes, and benefit strategy.
• Analyze experience studies and emerging trends to refine rating methodologies.
• Communicate pricing strategies and financial impacts to internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to the refinement of actuarial processes, tools, and models to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
• Fellow or Associate of the Society of Actuaries (SOA), or working toward designation.
• Demonstrated experience in health insurance pricing, underwriting, or related actuarial work.
• Strong understanding of rating methodologies, regulatory requirements, and healthcare cost drivers.
• Proficiency in actuarial software and tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, R, Excel) for pricing and forecasting.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex actuarial concepts to non-technical audiences.
Independence has implemented a “Hybrid” model which consists of Associates working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) and remotely 2 days a week (Monday & Friday). This role is designated as a role that fits into the “Hybrid” model. While associates may work remotely on our designated remote days, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania
