Description:
Participants in the Actuarial Development Program will:
- Apply knowledge of mathematics, probability, and statistics to complete tasks to perform basic actuarial and statistical analyses to estimate financial outcomes, under significant direction from their management.
- Have the opportunity to engage in dynamic rotations throughout the Actuarial Department.
- Gain practical, versatile experience with each rotation.
- Deepen your understanding of the actuarial field as it relates to health insurance.
Projects may involve all lines of business, including drug, and may include the following:
- Preparation of Medicare and Commercial rate filings
- Development of spreadsheet and database analytical tools
- Project emphasizing developing a foundation in underlying health insurance actuarial theory and applying it to Independence’s business needs.
As you advance in the program, gain experience, and pass exams, IBX may reward your progress with salary increases.
Qualifications:
- Must have completed at least 1 Society of Actuaries Actuarial Exam.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Strong personal computer skills
- Familiarity with database programs such as Access
- Familiarity with spreadsheet programs such as MS Excel
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education:
- Pursuing a degree in Actuarial Services, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Junior standing preferable
Program Dates
Program Start Date: May 31, 2027
Program Completion Date: August 6, 2027
Work Hours
Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (37.5 hours per week)
