The Corporate Compliance manager is responsible for overseeing and guiding the organization’s compliance program, ensuring adherence to internal policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements. This role provides leadership in training, monitoring, reporting, and investigating compliance-related matters to support a culture of integrity and accountability.

Responsibilities:

·          Code of Conduct Management - Lead the annual distribution, review, and approval process for the Code of Conduct across all workforce members and relevant committees.

 

·          Conflicts Disclosure Oversight - Manage the annual conflicts disclosure process, ensuring 100% completion and preparing reports for compliance officers and executive leadership.

 

·          Compliance Training Program Administration - Develop, update, assign, and track new hire and annual compliance training, including general compliance, Medicare Advantage/Medicare Part D, HIPAA, HITECH, fraud, waste, and abuse, business continuity, records retention training, and acceptable use of artificial intelligence. In addition, we create and update compliance training materials, including narration and specialized curricula.

 

·          Training Assignment and Completion Tracking - Assign training curricula and Code of Conduct upon hire and annually thereafter, monitoring completion and ensuring compliance with established timelines.

 

·          Compliance Program – Develop, maintain, and update the Compliance Program and related documents in consultation with subject matter experts.

 

·          Audit and Regulatory Response - Respond to audit requests related to training, policy, and compliance documentation for internal and external audits.

 

·          Medicare Advantage / Medicare Part D and Qualified Health Plan Program Evaluation Support – Participate and respond to regulatory requests related to state-based exchanges and Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D programs, including questionnaire completion and effectiveness evaluations.

 

·          New Hire Orientation Participation – Develop content and attend biweekly orientation sessions to educate new associates about compliance and privacy requirements.

 

·          Compliance Line and Investigations - Promote and maintain the Associate Compliance Line for anonymous reporting of misconduct. Conduct timely investigations into alleged violations and coordinate with business partners to ensure resolution.

 

·          Communications and Awareness - Collaborate with Associate Communications to develop and disseminate compliance information through various channels, including intranet and email. In addition, organizes and manages Compliance and Ethics Week activities.

 

·          Records Retention Program Management - Oversee the company’s Records Retention Program in partnership with the Legal Department and Administrative Services, including policy maintenance and educational outreach.  This includes assisting with records destruction requests and off-site storage management.

 

·          Policy Creation and Maintenance – Create, monitor, and update corporate policies owned by Corporate Compliance to ensure content is up to date and meets the needs of the organization.

 

·          Data Loss Prevention - Track and address data loss prevention issues in collaboration with Human Resources, Information Security, and Privacy.

 

·          Compliance and Board Committee Support - Provide support for compliance-related committee activities, ensuring timely document management and delivery.

 

·          Department of Labor LM10 Reporting - Identify and report LM10-related expenses in collaboration with key departments and Senior Leadership.

 

·          Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a related discipline is required; an advanced degree is preferred. A minimum of five years’ experience in healthcare compliance, managed care environment, and managing the development and implementation of corporate-wide initiatives, including communications and training, is necessary. Exceptional communications skills (including writing, speaking, and presentation skills) as well as strong project management skills are required. Additional requirements include:

·          Attention to detail and ability to interpret complex regulations and policies

 

·          Ability to work as an individual contributor as well as a manager through a matrix organization

 

·          Ability to coach and mentor

 

·          Ability to work with minimal supervision, exercise good judgment, solve problems, think critically, multi-task, and prioritize work in a changing environment

 

·          Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships at all levels of the organization

 

·          Ability to manage time and workload, and to demonstrate flexibility.

 

·          Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and can learn and use various systems used to administer training and compliance program-related activities.

Independence has implemented a “Hybrid” model which consists of Associates working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) and remotely 2 days a week (Monday & Friday). This role is designated as a role that fits into the “Hybrid” model. While associates may work remotely on our designated remote days, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania
