Our Accounting team at Independence Blue Cross is looking for qualified accounting candidates at all levels of experience! While we do not have a position open just yet, we are beginning the search for qualified candidates who would like to pursue a career in Accounting. We are accepting resumes at all levels of experience (level of position will ultimately be commensurate with level of experience.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepares journal entries for certain general ledger accounts
  • Analyzes and reconciles accounts and performs inquiries to reconcile variances, e.g. general ledger balances vs. subsidiary ledgers
  • Prepares all transactions in accordance with sound accounting practices and IBC policies
  • Performs work in accordance with company deadlines
  • Actively participates in the completion of the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes
  • Assists in providing responses to all questions and requests for information as it relates to certain general ledger accounts
  • Assists with special projects as it relates to certain general ledger accounts
  • Understands and can effectively communicate with respect to the activity recorded in assigned general ledger accounts; performs and appropriately documents analytical analyses on a monthly basis
  • Assists with updating process and controls documentation for the functional area, and assists with updating key controls for Model Audit Rule (MAR) purposes.
  • Assists with the preparation of data and information to Audit (Internal and External) as required for certain general ledger accounts
  • Attention to detail
    • Demonstrates good judgment in analyzing reasonableness of data.
    • Maintains strong accuracy; utilizes specific approaches and tools for checking and cross-checking own outputs. 
  • Communication
    • Communicates messages effectively to audience.
    • Speaks and writes clearly and understandably; using appropriate words and grammar
    • Demonstrates ability to actively listen to others and asks questions to gain a deeper understanding of the topic. Aware of and reacts appropriately to non-verbal cues.
  • Process Orientation
    • Describes and documents key business processes in own area
    • Applies knowledge of business processes to achieve goals.
      • Maintains consistent process compliance.

  • Analytical
    • Demonstrates ability to discuss the key concepts behind reports and documents.

    • Able to read and understand reports and documents within own scope of responsibility.
    • Demonstrates ability to perform necessary research to understand reasonableness of data, summarize, and communicate trends.

  • Qualifications:
  • BS/BA (Accounting preferred)
  • CPA or desire to obtain CPA license preferred
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and specific practices/procedures associated with certain general ledger accounts
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Two to Four years of progressively more responsible experience in accounting
  • Working knowledge of supporting technologies (i.e. PeopleSoft) and large ERP systems
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office tools (i.e. MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point) and working knowledge of other tools (i.e. MS Access)
