Job Duties:

· Manages and actively participates in the completion of the monthly, quarterly, & annual close process

· Ensures all company deadlines are met

· Ensures accuracy and compliance of all transactions and reporting in accordance with accounting principles (GAAP, SSAP) and IBC policies

· Recommends and implements changes in departmental accounting practices and procedures; and appropriately coordinates all changes in accordance with company policies and procedures

· Engages with other areas of Accounting and Finance departments on a regular basis to understand the drivers of results and trends that impact financial statements

· Participates and manages special projects impacting accounting and reporting processes

· Prepares and reviews all internal/external financial reporting (Management, Statutory, and GAAP) deliverables in a timely fashion

· Coordinates and actively participates in audits (Internal and External)

· Manages the preparation of the audited financial statements

· Acts as a resource/mentor for staff members and provides direction and guidance to help them succeed
Qualifications:

· BS/BA in Accounting

· CPA preferred but not required

· Eight or more years of accounting experience for a health insurance or comparable industry (size and complexity) or comparable function, including two or more years in a leadership role

· Leadership abilities and has experience with leading functional teams

· Proficient knowledge of general & health insurance industry accounting practices & principles

· Proficient knowledge of US GAAP and specific practices/procedures

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Advanced knowledge of supporting technologies (i.e. PeopleSoft) and large ERP systems

· Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office tools (i.e. MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point)
