Pharmacy Technician - Remote (PA/NJ/DE)

Under the direction of Pharmacy Manager, the pharmacy technician focuses on medication adherence by making telephonic outreach to members and providers to provide reminders and notifications. Pharmacy technician helps coordinate member care and makes referrals to team pharmacists and nurses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with providers and members to identify patients at risk for non-adherence and support targeted outreach via telephonic outreach.
- Identifies barriers to medication adherence and address this with members and providers with goal of improving adherence.
- Facilitate communication with internal/external teams to resolve medication-related issues (e.g., formulary changes, prior authorizations, mail order, refill gaps).
- Track and report provider-specific adherence metrics and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist coordinating and gathering member information to facilitate discussion with pharmacist.
- Assist in coordinating medication therapy management (MTM) and transitions of care initiatives with providers.
- Make referrals to nurse health coaches to assist with member education, care coordination, and overall holistic medical management.
- Provide member education on pharmacy vendor solutions and resources.
- Maintain accurate documentation of provider interactions and interventions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a pharmacy or managed care setting; provider-facing experience preferred.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Familiarity with payer systems, pharmacy benefit, claims data, and quality metrics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and pharmacy documentation systems.
- Self-motivated, organized, detail oriented. Must be able to work in a collaborative environment and be self-directed.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with provider networks or clinical outreach teams.
- Experience working with Medicare population
- Knowledge of CMS Star Ratings, HEDIS, and other payer quality programs.
- Ability to interpret pharmacy claims and identify adherence gaps.
- Bilingual skills are a plus
Fully Remote:
This role is designated by Independence as fully remote. The incumbent will not be required to report to one of Independence’s physical office locations to perform the work. However, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania.
