Project Leader (Medical Policy) - Hybrid

The Project Leader is responsible for providing leadership and subject matter expertise for Medical and Claim Payment Policy (MCPP) Department project initiatives in order to meet deliverables specified in the project plans.  The Project Leader will report to the Manager, Medical Policy Administration. 

  • Responsible for providing leadership and subject matter expertise for MCPP project initiatives with ability to plan and manage a variety of projects and concurrent priorities to produce high-quality deliverables within established timelines. Coordinates MCPP’s endeavors with other departments, including Business Technology Solutions (BTS) and the various Company communications teams, through project lifecycles.
  • Create project plans, write business requirements, and manage project team resources.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of associates both verbally and in writing.
  • Identify issues, determine root causes, work with SMEs to determine solutions, and follow solutions through to implementation. 
  • Serves as a liaison to other departments of the Company and represents MCPP at meetings and on work groups as assigned by management. Leads multidisciplinary workgroups to resolve complex issues.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership and subject matter expertise for department sponsored project initiatives in order to meet deliverables specified in the project plans.
  • Works independently with internal Company associates to identify opportunities for improvement, resolve problems and implement improvement plans within established timeframes.
  • Analyzes existing quantitative and qualitative information for each project.
  • Assigns project team resources to various project tasks in a manner that will effectively and efficiently meet project goals.
  • Writes clear and concise documents, including project proposals and reports, and effectively communicates information to management, SMEs, and stakeholders.
  • Establishes goals for each project. Ensures that project tasks are scheduled and completed in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with established project plans.
  • Serves as a liaison to other departments of the Company and represents the department at meetings and on work groups as assigned by management. Leads multidisciplinary workgroups to resolve complex issues.
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of the status of all projects and routinely updates the Management team, MCPP associates, work group members, and stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Creates and maintains a team atmosphere and work environment to promote project work productivity.
  • Is able to interact with all levels of management within the Company, and with outside consultants and other organizations.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Health Administration or other related fields, or equivalent work experience. Project management certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with solid planning, communications, organizational and analytical skills, and attention to detail required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years related work experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Knowledge of Company product lines and managed care programs.

  • Capability to successfully work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities and in managing various projects and deadlines simultaneously. 
  • Experience in leading and participating on multidisciplinary workgroups preferred.
  • High comfort level working with applications such as SharePoint, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and knowledge of applications for creation of visual presentations, such as PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Visio.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent time management, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience working within health insurance industry is preferred.

Hybrid

Independence has implemented a “Hybrid” model which consists of Associates working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) and remotely 2 days a week (Monday & Friday). This role is designated as a role that fits into the “Hybrid” model. While associates may work remotely on our designated remote days, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
