Data Scientist
Technical Skills:
· Expertise in using SQL, R, Python, Scala etc. to manipulate large data sets and develop statistical models.
· Expertise in data management and modeling in an Hadoop environment, including use of Hive and Spark for parallelized processing
· Ability to perform feature engineering (transformation, binning, high level categorical reduction, etc.) and validation (hold-outs, CV, bootstrap)
· Demonstrated experience using analytical techniques for predictive modeling, including linear regression, logistic regression, survival analysis, GLM, tree models (Random Forests and GBM), cluster analysis, principal components, and deep learning neural network models.
· Strong expertise in regularization techniques (Ridge, Lasso, elastic nets)
· Proficiency in data visualization.
· Familiarity with or participation in the OHDSI community and experience with the OMOP common data model a plus.
· Knowledge of SOLR and Hbase a plus
Professional Skills:
· Must have a strong customer focus, ability to work with internal clients and manage day-to-day interactions with and expectations of business stakeholders
· Ability to lead requirement gathering consultations with business stakeholders and translate business needs into analytic problems.
· Strong understanding of how analytic results inform or address a business problem or objectives and a superior ability to communicate technical ideas and results to non-technical clients in written and verbal form.
· Ability to lead projects in a team environment, collaborating with various subject matter experts, management, analysts, and other data scientist.
Qualifications:
· Master’s or PhD (preferred) in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Health Economics, Epidemiology, Healthcare Informatics, or other relevant field with additional coursework in machine learning, predictive modeling and data management.
· 5+ years of work experience with health care data analytics, statistical analysis, predictive modeling, machine learning techniques, and visualization tools.
· Advanced knowledge of health care industry, products, systems, business strategies and products
· Record of peer-reviewed publications a plus.
