Job Summary

Responsible for end‑to‑end oversight of billing‑related operational and technology execution, with a strong focus on stakeholder communication, invoice generation tracking, and financial reconciliation.

The PTM provides transparency into billing performance through structured reporting, ensures reconciliation integrity across invoices, payments, and the General Ledger (GL), and proactively manages risks and issues impacting billing outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Serve as the primary technology and delivery liaison for Premium Billing stakeholders across Business, Finance (FI), Accounting, and IT
  • Provide regular stakeholder updates (weekly and monthly) on billing status, risks, issues, and financial impacts
  • Translate complex billing and financial data into clear, executive‑ready communications

Invoice Generation Tracking & Reporting

  • Track and monitor weekly and monthly invoice generation activities across Premium Billing
  • Develop and maintain standardized dashboards and reports highlighting:
    • Invoice volumes and timeliness
    • Exceptions, failures, and reprocessing trends
    • Month‑end and period‑close readiness
  • Ensure reporting accuracy and consistency across operational and financial teams

Financial Reconciliation & Controls

  • Own and coordinate reconciliation of invoices, payments, and financial postings
  • Partner closely with Finance (FI) and Accounting teams to:
    • Reconcile billing outputs to payment receipts
    • Validate postings to the General Ledger (GL)
    • Identify and drive resolution of variances by working with different teams
  • Ensure reconciliation processes meet audit, compliance, and internal control standards

Program & Delivery Oversight

  • Identify risks and issues early; drive mitigation and resolution plans
  • Support month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end billing and financial close activities

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve billing accuracy, automation, reconciliation efficiency, and reporting transparency
  • Partner with technology and operations teams to reduce manual effort and recurring exceptions
  • Document and standardize billing and reconciliation processes where gaps exist

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong experience in billing systems, financial operations, or premium billing environments
  • Proven ability to manage cross‑functional stakeholders and complex delivery dependencies
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, or regulated financial environments
  • Familiarity with enterprise billing platforms and financial systems (FI/GL concepts)
  • Program or project management experience supporting large‑scale operational platforms
  • Advanced Excel and reporting/dashboarding skills

Hybrid

Independence has implemented a “Hybrid” model which consists of Associates working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) and remotely 2 days a week (Monday & Friday). This role is designated as a role that fits into the “Hybrid” model. While associates may work remotely on our designated remote days, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
