Job Summary

The AHA/IA Self-Funded Billing Supervisor is responsible for understanding all aspects of Self Funded Billing & Collections, Cash Application, and Finance Business and Systems Support, including workflow, processes, related systems and work procedures.  

  • Must be able to identify customer focused process improvement opportunities, system inconsistencies, assess root cause issues, apply business solutions and facilitate training opportunities.
  • Must be able to train, mentor, and grow a team of self-funded analysts consisting of various levels of knowledge and experience.
  • Must be able to work with technical staff in identifying system functions that support work processes.
  • Acts as a business consultant and partner with internal and external customers to maintain workflow controls and consistency.
  • Provides both internal and external customers with month end reporting and variance analysis, settlements and any ad-hoc reporting upon request.
  • Consults with management regarding business solutions to streamline processes and reduce adverse impact to customers.
  • Oversees the design, development and implementation of complex business needs and has overall project management responsibilities.
  • Provides leadership for billing and customer account analysis and billing related, corporate-wide initiatives.
  • Oversees the entire book of business for AHA and IA self-funded customers.  
  • 5-10 years of Billing and Accounts Receivable experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to interact with all levels of management and customers both internal and external. Previous experience handling escalated customer calls required.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong problem solving ability and skills to quickly and accurately investigate an issue and take to resolution with little to no supervision
  • Ability to work across departments (i.e. IS, Accounting/Sales/Claims) to support billing functions
  • Demonstrated ability to complete routine task and handle work of a more complex nature.  Ability to multi task required.
  • Strong technical ability required to employ and manipulate systems to generate needed reporting and validate reports to ensure data used is accurate.  Must have ability to understand and work with multiple systems applications, such as Health Rules, Tableau, CABS, FOS, PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Demonstrated success working in a team environment comprised of various levels of talent, experience and motivation
  • Demonstrated focus on continuous process improvement and leveraging efficiencies within the department
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Prior AHA experience preferred
  • Prior Supervisory experience preferred
