Underwriter II (Hybrid)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. MBA Preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years experience working in group insurance environment and 2+ years experience working in underwriting environment. Can be concurrent experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of insurance concepts, underwriting, rating techniques and basic risk evaluation is required.
- Solid working knowledge of Health Care Reform, risk assessment, marketplace conditions, competitive landscape, and relevant business acumen.
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight timeframes.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills as well as the ability to recognize, research and resolve discrepancies is required.
- Exhibits a prescribed level of proficiency across all competencies as defined in the Underwriting Competency Model. In addition, each role within Underwriting has five specific competencies that are weighted heavier in the evaluation of performance.
- Must be detail oriented, skilled in problem solving, mathematics and algebraic concepts and advanced understanding of rating techniques.
- Must have solid interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication
- Knowledge of the Microsoft office suite of products (Access, Word and Excel) and internal underwriting support systems.

Hybrid of Choice:

However, management may require our associates to work from Independence’s physical office locations on certain occasions.
