The Associate Sales Executive for Medicare works with the Account Executive and Functional Management to manage external customer, client, consultant, or broker relationships. Works collaboratively with Functional Management and Account Executive to understand and meet all strategic initiatives and sales goals within the segment. Participates in sales meetings, presentations, and site visits to cultivate account relationships. Ensures all sales and account related issues are addressed.
- Participates in on-going account management, (depending on segment size) including renewals, settlements, proposals, benefit exceptions and customer reporting.
- Works collaboratively with Functional Management and Account Executive to understand and meet all strategic initiatives and goals within the segment
- Works with Account Executive and segment partners to understand and effectively communicate rating alternatives and funding arrangements applicable within the segment. May deliver renewals/quotes/no quote decisions (where applicable).
- Explains Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement and Prescription Drug Program capabilities and/or procedures, as necessary, to prospects and customers.
- Responsible to complete duties in a timely and accurate manner in conformance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and corporate guidelines, and management requirements.
- Responsible for strategic and consultative presentations of products to customers/clients and prospects. Provides input and partners with Marketing/Communications department regarding presentations and sales materials as needed.
- Provides professional presentations and/or open enrollments (where applicable) to a variety of audiences.
- Depending on segment may manage a client on an interim or permanent basis.
- Assist Functional Management and Account Executive with the relationship management of all channel partnerships, new and existing.
- Lead the development of trainings and tools that are needed to make channel relationships successful, by working with all shared service partners within Independence,
- Handles the management of all the escalated inquiries that come through their respective channels.
- Works alongside Functional Management and Account Executive for any internal project needs pertaining to the success and growth of each of the channels
- Participates in yearly internal project that is conducted for Open Enrollment Readiness for all vendor partners
- Assists Account Executive in any external communications that are needed throughout the year that would affect this business.
- Must maintain active sales license and required certification.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum 2+ years related work experience preferably in sales. Direct to consumer experience preferred.
- A background in healthcare, particularly with Medicare products, would be extremely helpful.
- Strong time management, organizational, and communications skills as well as the ability to work independently on multiple tasks in a highly visible environment are required.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with minimal daily intervention by management.
- Self-motivated, competent in consultative selling skills, highly organized and detail oriented
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, verbal and written communication skills
- Must have the ability to develop and facilitate presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to function in a high-volume, highly visible, deadline-oriented environment is essential. Flexibility in a variety of settings and ability to work under pressure.
- Demonstrated experience with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong strategic and analytical skills. Ability to analyze data and provide solutions.
- Excellent customer and broker/consultant relationship skills.
- Able to work collaboratively with functional areas within segment.
- Active PA State Accident & Health license required. Sales license must be obtained within 60 days of hire into position.
- Medicare certification required (must be obtained within 60 days of hire into position)
- Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable car for visits to customer/client/consultant/broker locations and must have cell phone. Out of area travel may be required.

Hybrid
Independence has implemented a “Hybrid” model which consists of Associates working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) and remotely 2 days a week (Monday & Friday). This role is designated as a role that fits into the “Hybrid” model. While associates may work remotely on our designated remote days, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania.
