College Co-op: Corporate Communications Analyst (GG)
About the Department:
The Corporate Communications Department is responsible for shaping and sharing the company’s external narrative. The team plays a vital role in building and protecting the company’s reputation through strategic messaging, media relations, and public engagement.
Key responsibilities of the department include:
· Developing public-facing key messages for the company
· Creating opportunities for executive leaders to speak on important topics
· Serving as the primary contact for local, regional, and national news media
· Collaborating with departments across the organization on external communications, including thought leadership campaigns, sponsorships, special events, and social media content
· Managing reputational risk and protecting the company brand
· Leading public health awareness campaigns
Co-op Job Description:
The Corporate Communications Co-op will support the department’s efforts to advance strategic communication goals. This role offers hands-on experience working with team members on a variety of projects, including executive communications initiatives.
Assignments will be tailored to the student’s strengths, skills, and interests, and may include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting in the development of communication plans and strategic messaging
- Drafting media alerts and/or press releases
- Creating media lists, developing media pitches, and monitoring media coverage
- Writing and scheduling social media content; supporting social media planning
- Contributing to writing and editing for audience-specific publications and executive briefings
- Conducting research to support team projects
- Assisting with photo and video shoots, as well as special event planning and coordination
- Supporting other communications-related tasks as needed
Required Skills:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Effective organizational and time management abilities
- A foundational understanding of public relations concepts and terminology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- A proactive, self-starting attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Experience with digital and social media (a plus)
