Independence (IBX) is looking for an experienced and analytically minded individual to support our Health Value Optimization (HVO) initiatives aimed at improving whole-person health for our members while aiming to reduce medical cost. This Senior Research Analyst position will report to the Manager, Reporting and Analytics within the Informatics Department, to support HVO initiatives with analytics. These include evaluating changes to medical and claims payment policies, the effectiveness of external health vendors, performing ad-hoc analyses for programs designed to improve members’ physical and behavioral health wellbeing and deliver insights for medical cost savings opportunities. This role will collaborate with various stakeholders, including HVO business partners, Independence executives, behavioral health clinicians, and technical teams to help create robust analytics and reporting needed for both HVO and Independence.
Informatics is hiring a Senior Research Analyst with the following primary responsibilities:
· Provide data using SQL and R needed for HVO initiatives using medical/RX claims, demographic, authorizations, and provider databases
· Interpret, summarize, and present analytic results in a clear, concise manner for both technical and non-technical audiences, to help drive effective decision-making processes
· Collaborate with HVO and other business stakeholders to discuss analytical asks and methodology to find optimal solutions to business problems
· Develop presentations for communicating results on HVO initiatives
· Learn the use of large data marts supporting internal wellness initiatives including, but not limited to Behavioral Health and Diabetes
· Act as a subject matter expert for the company in HVO related data, metrics, and analytics
· Provide ad hoc reporting as requested by internal business stakeholders with ability provide useful analytical findings and results related to the business question in a timely manner
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, health care, public health, epidemiology, statistics, social sciences, or related quantitative area, plus minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in an analytical environment
· Demonstrates advanced SQL / R programming skills with proven experience in data extraction from large, longitudinal databases, performing data transformation and cleansing and the ability to perform QA and data reasonability checks
· Experience in advanced analytics or Statistics is a plus
· Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, waterfall chart creation, complex formulas, etc.)
· Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging directly with business leaders
· Self-starter with strong analytical, project management and problem-solving skills
· Ability to tell a concise and succinct story with data
· Background in healthcare data strongly preferred (e.g., medical claims, authorizations from a health insurer or healthcare system)
Hybrid
Independence has implemented a “Hybrid” model which consists of Associates working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) and remotely 2 days a week (Monday & Friday). This role is designated as a role that fits into the “Hybrid” model. While associates may work remotely on our designated remote days, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
Must have an Android or iOS device which is compatible with the free Microsoft Authenticator app.
