Summer Intern - Underwriting
Job Description:
The Underwriting Summer Intern will support the underwriting team in evaluating risk, analyzing data, and contributing to pricing strategies for health insurance products. This role offers hands-on experience in understanding how underwriting decisions impact financial performance, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction. Interns will work on real-world projects that involve data analysis, market research, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing, reviewing and entering demographic and census rate quote information for various plans, groups and individuals into internal rating systems for development of rates.
- Working within various rating system applications for the development of new business and renewal rates for all lines of business.
- Performing basic analysis of group information.
Working closely with the Sales Team to advise on compliance with underwriting requirements, providing employer certifications and responding to non-standard requests/exceptions.
Qualifications:
The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight timeframes.
Strong analytical
Ability to recognize, research and resolve discrepancies is required.
Detail-oriented.
Skilled in problem solving and mathematics at an algebraic level.
Knowledge of the Microsoft office suite o(Access, Word and Excel).
