Underwriting Operations Analyst

The primary responsibility will be the execution of production and operational processes/tasks to support the Actuarial and Underwriting teams. Responsible for the overall rate integrity in billing systems. Perform pre-billing and post-billing rate audits. Responsible for performing comprehensive group audit and identifying Underwriting/Enrollment compliance issues. Facilitation, investigation and resolution of data issues as assigned. Responsible for the auditing of new and renewal business. Position will be expected to track performance metrics, trends, and issues. Must be able to make decisions and provide analysis to Senior Level Analyst.
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the Underwriting Guidelines, Marketing, Enrollment, and Rating Systems. Review the company's existing compliance policies and procedures to identify potential area of compliance vulnerability and risk of unethical, illegal, or improper conduct. Maintains user reference manuals and desk procedure documentation for any activity performed. Clearly document findings related to work performed. Organize and maintain relevant files. Documentation must be complete, clear, and concise.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be detail-oriented and have a basic understanding of insurance concepts and rating techniques. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Must work independently and well as part of a team. Must have the ability to produce high quality error free work products. A basic understanding of the Underwriting Guidelines, Marketing, Enrollment, and Rating systems. Exhibits a prescribed level of proficiency across all competencies as defined in the Underwriting Competency Model.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 3 years progressive experience working in a production support role.
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
· Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products (Access, Word, and Excel). Detailed Knowledge of Underwriting systems, support systems, and internal enrollment and rating systems.
Independence has implemented a “Hybrid” model which consists of Associates working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) and remotely 2 days a week (Monday & Friday). This role is designated as a role that fits into the “Hybrid” model. While associates may work remotely on our designated remote days, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania
